The heartbreaking news of the update suspension for the Chinese (CN) server of Fellow Moon (新月同行), an urban fantasy gacha game developed by Firewick Network, sent shockwaves through its fanbase. However, the recently launched official artbook crowdfunding campaign has shown an explosive level of support, once again capturing the attention of the gacha gaming community.
Why a Crowdfunding Campaign Now?
Due to fierce market competition and severe financial difficulties, the developer, Firewick Network, was ultimately forced to halt the development of new content. However, letting the game's deep urban fantasy universe and high-quality artwork simply fade away was too bitter a pill to swallow for both the developers and the players.
As a result, they opted for a risk-free crowdfunding model to gather the vast amount of already completed art assets and create a final, dedicated gift for the fans. Local Chinese players have dubbed this the "most honorable funeral," willingly opening their wallets as a tribute and expression of gratitude to the hard-working art team.
Artbook and Merchandise Package Details
The core of this campaign is undoubtedly the massive artbook, boasting over 300 pages. Depending on the pledge tier, various merchandise items are bundled together as package rewards.
From a replica of the measuring glasses worn by Senshu to nostalgic transparent film tickets, and custom mini storage cases for clear cards featuring the logos of the 8 factions—the lineup perfectly captures the unique atmosphere of the game.
On top of this, stretch goals have been continuously unlocked. This means the materials used for the initial items are getting premium upgrades, and extra freebies like plushies and exclusive metal pins are pouring in.
The Community's Explosive Support
This campaign set astonishing records the moment it went live. In less than an hour, it smashed through the 1 million RMB (approx. $138,000 USD) mark and even dominated the #1 real-time trending spot on TapTap, China's leading mobile game app market and community hub.
Considering it's been over three months since the last update in December of last year, this truly highlights the unwavering passion and loyalty of the player base. As of writing this post, the total raised stands at 2.95 million RMB, but given the remaining days and the current momentum, effortlessly crossing the final stretch goal of 3 million RMB (approx. $415,000 USD) is practically a guaranteed milestone.
What About the KR and JP Servers?
In stark contrast to the CN server, which halted due to the developer's financial crisis, the highly responsible approach of the publisher for the Korean and Japanese regions, Garena, is receiving massive praise. Despite the halt in new development on the home server, Garena promised that "every single piece of content up to the final build already developed in China will be fully serviced without omission." They transparently published a detailed banner and story roadmap stretching out to around May 2026.
They even surprised players by launching a brand-new official PC client—a feature that was never even provided to the CN server. As news of Garena's stellar management reached the mainland Chinese community, local players have been vocalizing their desperate wishes, saying, "Please just hand over the development rights to Garena and let them save the game."
Although we might never get to see the perfect narrative conclusion we all hoped for, we've narrowly avoided the absolute worst-case EoS (End of Service) scenario. This is all thanks to a developer trying to soothe the community's regrets with a high-quality physical artbook package, and a publisher who promised to stay with us until the very end. Let's enjoy the remaining time we have with these characters to the fullest.
